Dervla O'Flaherty

born in 1987, she is from North County Dublin, Ireland. She completed her BA in Fine Art, Painting at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin in (2012) and did her Post-Graduate studies at Cyprus College of Art in (2014).

Dervla has exhibited in Ireland, Cyprus, and Iceland. She has won many awards and has completed residencies in Iceland, Hungary and Ireland.

Her work is influenced by colours, forms and milieu of places she has travelled, picking up narrative from myth, stories and imagination, and becoming new places, inhabited by memory, experience and longing. In her painting, symbolic references and instinctual mark making inhabit familiar places, wild imaginary landscapes as well as the underground world of the unconscious. While giving us a sense of where we are, they are reluctant to direct us to any concrete landmark, person, place or thing.
